HAUTE COUTURE GLOVES
As Ines says: Always wear gloves!
Gloves leather is a very special material.
We trace the very best A grade quality from around the world.
Our leather is extremely thin and supple, and it’s traditionally worked and gently stretched by hand by glove masters before it’s cut into shape ready to become your favourite garments.

QUALITY, QUALITY, QUALITY
All Ines gloves are made of the finest leather from the wildlands of Ethiopia and vegetable tanned in the EU.
There are several different methods of tanning, producing leather with distinctive characteristics.
When the skins reach the leather yard, they are cleansed by soaking in water and then de-haired.
The majority of dress gloves are made from lambskins and sheepskins, and the characteristics of these will vary according to the part of the world the animal lives.
Other skins of animals used include the antelope, buck, calf, deer, goat, peccary, and reindeer.
The tanner, when he turns these skins into leather, must preserve their natural run and stretch to ensure the glove or other items of clothing remain close fitting and flexible.
Leather is ideal for gloves because of this, and also because it is smart and attractive, so strong and wears well, so soft and pliable.
LEATHER USAGE
Leather manufacture has been there a long time: it began in around 3000 B.C., when the Egyptians discovered it could be used as body armour, household furniture and tents.
Much later, in Spain, during the 15th century, leather began to be used to create sofas, armchairs and as a wall covering material.
In the 16th century, leather hats and tunics became popular throughout England during the romantic era of Shakespeare.
And ever since that time, leather has been one of the most popular materials used in fashion.
Today there are limitless leather apparel and accessory options.
Leather is versatile, practical, prestigious and, admittedly, both sexes look great wearing it.
Also, leather comes in many colors and textures, so it always has a trendy, exciting appearance and is extremely versatile.
Accessories made from leather stand the test of time and look fashionable anywhere you go.
Gloves, shoes, hats, belts, boots and handbags made from leather are not only attractive, but a great investment because of their durability.
Leather is easy to maintain, too.
Smooth leather can be wiped with a damp cloth.
Suede and nubuck should be brushed.
If you get leather wet, let it dry naturally because heat will damage its natural oils. Finally, if your garment gets soiled or worn, bring it to a professional leather cleaner to extend the life of the item.
When it comes to fashion, leather is better!
A GUIDE TO LEATHER KINDS
Cabretta: A thin, fine leather made from the skin of Brazilian hair sheep.
Cape or Capeskin: A superior thin leather made from the skin of South African hair sheep.
Carpincho: The water rodent of Brazil. The leather has excellent stretch, is soft but hard wearing. A distinguishing feature is the hair-holes which are in groups of 3 to 7.
Chamois: Originally made from the skins of the Alpine Antelope or Chamois, but now made from sheep or lambskins from which the grain is split off and the lower or flesh layer is oil dressed. A washable, supple leather, creamy yellow in color. Doeskin: Originally made from the female deer, but now from sheep or lambskins where the grain is split off, and the lower or flesh layer is tanned with formaldehyde. A light-weight washable leather often produced in white, but takes light colors readily.
Grain: The side of the leather that had the hair, i.e. the outside.
Full Grain has the original surface, whereas corrected grain has been abraded to make the leather smoother and more uniform.
Grain Finish: This is produced on the hair side of the skin giving a shiny glossy surface. The term -
Glacé - is sometimes used. It is not correct to use the term 'Kid' that is often loosely applied to any light weight grain finish glove leather.
Kidskin: Leather from a young milk-fed goat, mostly of European origin. A fine tight grain skin, light in weight and durable.
Lambskin Curley: The skins of lambs dressed with the wool on, and according to the source of supply, maybe of curly wool or straight wool type. Care has to be taken in the dyeing to see that the wool is left white and the skin dyed to the required colour. This leather makes very warm and comfortable gloves for winter wear.
Peccary: A pig-like animal of Mexico and South America. The leather is smooth, firm and supple and very durable and can easily be recognised by the hair-holes which are in groups of three. It makes a very smart glove for casual, sporty and chic wear. Peccary leather is very expensive.Ines gloves has a very special collection of peccary leather gloves. Shearlings: The skins of domestic sheep from a number of different countries, dressed with the wool on, which is combed and shorn to give a standard length of wool. The finished leather is heavier and firmer than the Lambskin and is ideal for Mitts. Suede: Any glove leather may be sueded on either the grain or the flesh side by running the leather against an emery wheel, but the process is generally applied to the flesh side. Where the finish is applied to the grain, which is removed, then this is sometimes called 'Buffed' leather.

]]>Ines gloves is regularly featured in VOGUE BRIDES magazine.
Black leather gloves are extremely elegant, with a hint of sensuality.
They are slimming, and are perhaps best for highlighting the feminine contours of the hands and arms, especially when paired with your wedding dress.
At Ines Gloves we never believed in mass production: we believe instead that leather is a very precious thing that deserves respect and care at every single stage. We care about avoiding any possible waste and make ethical business choices, which start with how we source the leather and interpret our idea of elegance: not simply a way to dress, but a way to be.
Exclusivity, as we imagine it, does not necessarily have to do with a price you pay for something you desire, but rather in its availability. Avoiding large production allows us to avoid waste of precious leather, and we believe that this is the ethical choice to do... the elegant choice!
If you love Ines Gloves then, you must understand and appreciate that your favourite model may not be available in the right size or color all the time. And sometimes, it may take a while...
Since we don't want to compromise our quality, sometimes we may decide to discontinue a product completely if we feel that the the right type of leather is not available on the market.
Our Gloves Bolero has become an icon in the past years. It's been copied by many but never matched. We have discontinued this model for a few months. But fear not, we are working on a brand new leather gloves bolero.
We all love stretch gloves. We will offer them again in the future, but you will still need to be a little patient. This type of leather is available at many tanneries, but it's not quite right in its quality. We have always taken pride in the beauty of these special gloves, and we will not compromise. They will be back when the time is right.
Finally, one word about colours: while black, brown and red are generally available at all times, we try and produce gloves out of special and vibrant colours that we find on the market: this avoids once more any type of waste and it's part of our ethical choices. But it also means that sometimes many colours may be out of stock in some sizes.
Now you know - owning a pair of Ines Gloves is truly exclusive!
We will keep updating you through our newsletter about what comes available.
Thanks for your love and your loyalty!

Its always a pleasure when Dutch stylist, fashion editor and photographer Ferry van der Nat is on the phone asking if he can come over to select some gloves for a photoshoot.
This time he was styling a photograph for the promotion of Pride Amsterdam 2016 and Eurovision Songfestival winner Conchita Wurst was going to star.
The gay pride in Amsterdam is always an amazing party - this city has a long tradition of not only tolerance but celebration of uniqueness and diversity in its community. The LGBTQ scene is alive and well and producing some of the most amazing advent-garde in style, fashion and art.
Conchita is an amazing singer and great LGBTQ icon - she's been winning over the heart of her fans since her amazing Eurovision performance.
This was to be kept a secret: nobody knew who the ambassador of Pride would be and every year the announcement is marked with a big event.
On the day of the shooting, a Sunday morning, I received a phone call from Ferry asking for gloves in different sizes and whether it was possible to deliver them asap. Something special was happening...
I biked to the Ines Gloves offices together with my daughter Anna to pick up the gloves and bring them over.
The shooting was taking place in a small studio along the Amsterdam canals. When we entered, fashion photographer Phillipe Vogelenzang was already busy shooting portraits of Conchita.
After a nice chat with her manager, we had some time to meet Conchita.
She is very kind person and a amazing talent. A real star was standing there. And of course my little daughter was very impressed by her beard and her looks :)
The shooting produced wonderful images of Conchita, her striking image and her long Ines leather gloves.
And Anna was really impressed to have met such a big celebrity!
We've had the pleasure to do more collaborations with her in these last 2 years... Always a pleasure, Conchita!

Take a race bicycle from the late 70's. Take kilometres of white roads drawn in the heart of the Chianti hills in Tuscany, Italy. Take 7200 men and women from all 4 corners of the earth travelling to the small town of Gaiole making it the world center of sport and passion for one day. Add Chianti Classico Wine, cured meats, the huge tradition of Tuscan and Italian food, in its simple and strong flavours.
Take all of this, and start pedalling... in style!
We thought it would be fun to bring a touch of elegance to one of the most charming events of the cycling world - the Eroica, an amateur race that since 1997 has celebrated everything that cycling used to stand for in the golden years of Fausto Coppi, Girardengo, Bartali. Its values, its heritage. As they say: "The beauty of fatigue, the taste of accomplishment.
With its unique formula and the beauty of the land it takes place in, The Eroica has steadily attracted more and more passionate racers since its very first edition. From 4am in the morning, cyclists start their race, riding vintage bikes and in perfect vintage clothing. No winners, no losers, just passion and the pleasure of sharing together a magical experience.
Our Lady in White has been racing too, sporting her fingerless peccary gloves, in pink.
Needless to say, she has been getting a lot of attention. Her, and the gloves of course, with their bright and happy colour and elegant feel. In the sunny weather of the day before the race, everyone seemed to want to take a picture of her, and with her!
Our Lady in White happens to be an experienced bike racer, and we were very curious to see how she would enjoy our racing gloves and how they would perform during the race.
"They are really soft and feather-light - you hardly notice that you have them on. Peccary leather feels soft on the hands and very comfortable, and it gives you a lot of grip on the bike, no matter how you grab the steering. They smell amazing. There is no padding, so you have a better feel of what you are doing and more direct control. They feel effortless, light - with no stress point on the hands and no feeling of discomfort, compared to many other riding gloves. And they make me feel fancy!".
THE RACE
We started our race around 9am from the main square of Gaiole in Chianti, surrounded by a crazy happy mob of racers from all countries. Perfect vintage clothing, antique bicycles, and some of the greatest moustaches you will ever see. There's a magical atmosphere of happiness, camaraderie, and joy that is difficult to explain - you have to experience it first hand.
The hard-core racers have started their adventure already around 4am, in complete darkness, helped by a head light (some of them in perfect vintage style, only by a candle) and the moon. Some of them will take more than 13 hours to complete the taxing and "Heroic" 290Km (130 miles) route. No asphalt, no support, no pressure.
Our race will be 75km of white roads surrounded by the world-renown Chianti Classico vineyards, miles of enchanted hills between Florence and Siena that produce some of the finest red wine in the world. For a wine lover, it's an absolute bliss: your race travels across the thousands and thousands lines of vines from the most renown houses and consortiums.
And that's not all: the rest points of the Eroica are legendary. No cookies and water there for the racers, but cured meats, pecorino cheese, and red wine from the area. The full experience, in your legs, heart, and stomach.
After a few kilometres of road, a little rain starts to fall down, creating a fantastic water paint-like effect on the hills. The Lady in white is riding a beautiful green Legnano bike from 1972 in perfect state.
The grip of the peccary gloves comes particularly handy on the steep rocky road coming down from Castello di Brolio (home of one of the great red wines in Tuscany). It's very easy to lose control of these old bikes and tumble down the hill - so a steady hand on the breaks is much welcome.
The road is amazing: miles and miles of enchanted scenery, the work of a great painter, thousands of years of careful management and love for the territory. You immediately understand why millions of people from all over the world travel every year to fall in love with Tuscany. And in the case of the Eroica, the colours and the smells alone repay the hardships of the road!
Arrived back in Gaiole, after passing trough the beautiful towns of Radda in Chianti, Volpaia and Panzano, the party begins. Bottles uncorked and one flowing down the throats, music and dancing will go on till the late evening, when we decide to celebrate our "Heroic" accomplishment with an elegant dinner at one of the many restaurants in this area.
Eroica - Ines Gloves will be back next year!

Ines was featured last December in the prestigious NRC Magazine with a long beautiful article by Milou van Rossum.
For all the dutch speaking elegance fans, here's a great personal insight in our story and our passions.
by Milou van Rossum. Source: www.nrc.nl

]]>Marilyn herself was certainly not the size 0 that has come to be seen as the norm in Hollywood today.
She was gracefully curvy, and wore clothing to show her beautiful figure.
No matter what your size may be, match your selected ensemble to a pair of opera leather gloves in any size.
These gloves show the graceful contours of your arms, never disappoint, and never judge...
Beauty in all sizes; gloves for all personalities..
Marilyn Monroe, known for being one of the most beautiful women in the world, was a size 14.
As Marilyn herself used to say, "you are the beautiful one; it's society that's the ugly one."
True beauty comes in all shapes and sizes, which is why Ines Gloves has created a beautiful leather glove for all personalities and styles.
Celebrate your own uniqueness with a different glove each day!
Add a bright splash of colour to an otherwise neutral ensemble.
Celebrate your feminine grace with a vintage-looking pair or opt for the simple, classic, quiet elegance with a neutral-coloured pair of gloves...
Wear red lipstick...
Marilyn Monroe consistently included red lipstick as an important component of her signature, Hollywood-glam look.
It is something so easy, with a huge impact on your head-turning ability!
However, be careful which shade of red you choose... makeup experts suggest wearing true red if you have blue eyes, orange-tinged red with light brown or green eyes, and berry red with dark brown eyes.
These tips are sure to make your lips pop!
And to top it all off, match a beautiful pair of glace gloves in a red to match your luscious lips!
Moisturize!!!
Moisturising provides much-needed hydration to the skin, creating a fresher, more radiant appearance.
Marilyn suggests applying your favorite moisturiser all over your body at least once daily.
I'm never without my hand cream, and love the feel of soft skin, especially when sliding my hands into an elegant pair of unlined leather gloves.
Love what you have...
Sadly, Marilyn Monroe did not live long enough to experience what it meant to age gracefully.
Though she claimed on numerous occasions not to have wanted to undergo plastic surgery as she matured, I feel that she would have been somewhat disappointed at the many cosmetic surgery procedures that are accessible today.
Like Marilyn, we at Ines Gloves believe that true elegance comes at any age.
Long leather gloves can easily add a classic elegance to an ensemble, regardless of whether you are 20 or 70 years of age.
It's all in how you carry yourself.
... and never feel that you have to be 50 and look 20.
Embrace your elegance and celebrate the beauty that is you!!!

Wearing gloves is perhaps one of the most important ways to keep your hands soft and looking their best.
Gloves simply become mandatory during the winter!
As soon as summer ends and autumn rolls in, I will place a pair of long leather gloves in my handbag for easy use.
It may seem a tad premature, but cool or cold air can induce dryness in your skin, making your hands appear rough and cracked.
Fortunately, Ines Gloves has so many beautiful leather gloves to choose from, making glove wearing fun instead of feeling like an obligation.
Rubber gloves are imperative when housecleaning.
Most cleaning products are damaging to the skin, even causing serious burns.
They may not look the greatest, but their use will ensure that your hands remain soft for a lifetime.
And after cleaning, wear hand-friendly lovely leather gloves to keep you and your hands smiling!
Smooth skin can also come from excellent and frequent hydration.
Current literature recommends drinking a minimum of 8 glasses of water daily... admittedly, I can't seem to find the desire to drink even one!
However, flavoured or carbonated water is a good alternative.
Does my morning coffee count???
Another option is to have a beverage close by throughout the day, just to encourage you to sip a bit more.
Grab that to-go mug of coffee with your newest pair of colourful short glace leather gloves and off you go to achieve hydration and softer skin!
Outer hydration is just as important (if not moreso) than inner hydration when it comes to keeping your hands soft.
Though we all tend to carry moisturiser with us each day and use it generously, it is important to limit the numerous of times you apply.
Your hands, like you, need a break every once in a while.
They become accustomed to the heavy quantities of moisturiser that you are providing them.
As a result, your hands will eventually stop protecting themselves.
Twice daily is the magic rule when it comes to moisturisers - once in the morning and then again in the evening before heading to bed.
As much as I would love to moisturise and then wear my favorite classic glace leather gloves while sleeping, wearing cotton gloves may be slightly more practical ;-)
Silky smooth, healthy, and luxurious...
Hot water is not good for your skin, as it has an overall drying effect, as it does on your favorite leather gloves.
Just like leather gloves, hot water makes your dry skin crave additional moisture.
When you wash your hands, use warm water with soft, moisturising soap.
And when you notice that your leather gloves are not as soft and supple as they used to be, a leather conditioner can be applied to soften the hide.
When simple moisturising doesn't do the trick, cotton gloves can be used as a means of locking in moisture overnight, while you're sound asleep.
You will awaken with the softest, smoothest hands ever!
Leather gloves keep your hands looking beautiful during the day, while your cotton gloves take over at night.
True beauty, all day long!
The importance of sunscreen in protecting our skin from ultraviolet light is well-known.
However, I would be willing to bet that the majority of us do not apply it directly on to our hands (or we at least do it by happenstance).
As you undoubtedly know, sun has a very drying effect on the skin, which works against having soft hands!
If you would rather avoid the greasy, oily sensation of sunscreen on your hands, your alternative is easy!!
Try a pair of thin unlined leather gloves in a bright, sunny colour!
Beautiful and gorgeous hands are so important.
Hands tell everything about yourself, how you live your life and love your body.
They say that hands give a woman's age away, well so what!
But gorgeous hands are the carriers of your personality, no matter in what situation and age you are.
You may wear fancy designer clothes; imagine the negative effects if you combine these fancy clothes with abandoned hands.
Look around you and see how hands are the centre of communication.
At a party, or even a job interview, your hands are your business card.
Your hands are the ultimate tool invented ever, but you don’t realize how important these tools are. You just use them all day:
shaking hands, cooking, doing your hair, feel, touch, work, write.
Endless, think about this for a second.
Hand care and protection with leather gloves.
And decide now, no matter what your age is, to treat them as your treasure.
In other words:
The best way to take care of your hands is to protect them.
Take care,
Ines
